Y'all Check This Out...

North Carolina may have the most diverse mixture of dialects of anywhere in the United States, according to NC State linguistics professor Walt Wolfram. I helped Dr. Wolfram get the word out on his new documentary, "Voices of North Carolina," which airs on North Carolina public television this Thursday at 10 p.m. Dr. Wolfram discussed his project and fielded listener calls today during an interview on WUNC radio. For those of you residing in the Tar Heel state, tune in Thursday night for an informative and entertaining look at the way we talk. If you don't live in North Carolina, but still want to see the documentary, you can order a copy on DVD or videocassette.

Anything that PBS airs that has "Popcorn" Sutton as one of its characters makes them worth sending twenty bucks the next time they trudge out Betty White begging for money during their pledge drive. Thanks for the word up Chad!

If you lined up in-state residents Andy Griffiths, Chucky Chest, Jack Williams, Ken Vogt and Coach Smith as the starting 5, NC would win hands down for the most diverse.

BTW, how much of a cut is the good professor sliping you for marketing his wares?

?!???

This thing is on PUBLIC TELEVISION. They have to drag out Betty White, Kermit the Frog, the last three living Doctor Whos and the ghost of Justin Wilson in front of the cameras every March just to beg for money to stay afloat... AND YOU EVEN DARE TO *SUGGEST* THAT THEY MAKE A PROFIT FROM ALL THIS? These are the guys who fired Bob Villa for shilling for Sears, fercryinoutloud... can you just *imagine* what they'd do to employees of a state university?

Look, I just watch the stuff, 'kay? I didn't *invent* the bloody system!! :-)

all comments are pointed toward our good friend Chadiallac. He had a link to order dvd or videocassette and he is the on-campus mouthpiece to get those guys stories out. I'll just send him the good humor via e-mail.
